Da Nang: The Coastal Metropolis
Da Nang is a modern, clean city featuring sandy beaches, bridges, and nearby mountains. Often used as a transit point for Hue and Hoi An, Da Nang deserves at least 2 days of exploration on its own.
Exploring the Marble Mountains
Located 8km south of the city, the Marble Mountains are five limestone hills representing the five elements. The largest hill, Thuy Son, is filled with Buddhist temples, pagodas, and massive natural caves used as sanctuaries. You can climb the stone steps or take a glass elevator to the top. Entrance is 40,000 VND.
Ba Na Hills & Golden Bridge: A Reality Check
The iconic Golden Bridge, held up by two giant stone hands, is located inside Sun World Ba Na Hills, a French-themed amusement park in the mountains.
- The Cost: Entry tickets cost around 900,000 VND ($37 USD), which makes it one of the most expensive attractions in Vietnam.
- The Crowds: The bridge gets extremely crowded. To get photos without hundreds of tourists, you must buy the earliest cable car ticket (arriving at the park entrance by 7:15 AM) and head straight to the bridge.
- The Weather: The mountain peak is often covered in thick fog or rain, completely obscuring the views. Check the live weather cameras at the ticket counter before heading up.
My Khe Beach & Dragon Bridge
My Khe Beach is a wide 30km stretch of white sand perfect for swimming and water sports. In the evening, head to the Han River to see the Dragon Bridge. Every Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 PM, the massive dragon structure breathes fire and water, a major event for locals and tourists alike.
