About Èze

Èze is a spectacular medieval hilltop village in southeastern France, perched like an eagle's nest 427 meters above the Mediterranean Sea. Known for its narrow, winding cobblestone streets lined with stone houses and bougainvillea, the village is crowned by an Exotic Garden (Jardin Exotique) built on ancient castle ruins.

💡Why Visit?

Climb the winding stone alleys of a medieval hilltop village to the Exotic Garden for one of the most famous panoramic views of the French Riviera.

Travel Tips

  • Do not take the train to Èze unless you are prepared to hike 1.5 hours uphill on the steep, rocky Nietzsche Path. Take Bus 82 or 112 from Nice instead.
  • Visit the Exotic Garden at the summit early in the morning (around 9:00 AM) to enjoy the views in quiet before the tour buses arrive.
  • Wear flat shoes with good traction; the medieval cobblestones are polished, steep, and can be slippery.
