Gurez Valley is a remote alpine valley nestled in the western Himalayas of north Kashmir, known for its pristine meadows, rushing streams, and dramatic mountain peaks. Cut off from the rest of Kashmir by heavy snowfall during winter, this isolated region offers untouched wilderness and authentic mountain village culture. The valley is home to the Drokpa people, an ethnic group with unique traditions and language, making it a place of both natural and cultural significance.
Gurez Valley offers raw, undeveloped mountain beauty and a chance to experience authentic Himalayan life away from mainstream tourism. Its seasonal isolation and cultural uniqueness make it one of India's most pristine and least crowded high-altitude destinations.

From Srinagar, drive to Bandipora via Baramulla, then head northeast toward Dawar and Gurez Valley. The road is winding mountain terrain with steep hairpin turns and can be challenging, especially during monsoon. The route is open only from June to October due to heavy winter snowfall.
