From Gangtok, drive northeast towards Lachen Valley via the winding mountain road. The final 28 km ascent to Nathula Pass is steep with multiple hairpin turns and requires a high-clearance vehicle. The route passes through Tsomgo Lake and Changu Lake before reaching the pass.
