Pattadakal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on the banks of the Malaprabha River in Bagalkot district of Karnataka, 22 km from Badami. Known as the coronation site of the early Chalukya kings, it contains a complex of nine 7th and 8th-century Hindu temples and one Jain sanctuary, demonstrating a historic fusion of Dravidian (Southern) and Nagara (Northern) temple architectural styles.
It is the pinnacle of early Chalukyan temple art, offering a highly concentrated complex of beautifully preserved stone temples with exquisite carvings.
