Unakoti, meaning one less than a crore in Bengali, is a historic Shaivite pilgrimage site situated in the green hills of northern Tripura, near Kailashahar. Dating back to the 7th-9th centuries, this forest-clad hill is famous for its colossal, spectacular rock-cut relief sculptures of Lord Shiva and other Hindu deities carved directly into vertical rocky cliffs.
It is one of India's most mystical and least-visited heritage sites, showcasing monumental stone carvings hidden deep inside a green rainforest.
